‍Job Summary

As Head of Operations, you own the efficient running of Fido; you define the target operating model for how the organisation should function and direct our automation and AI-build teams to implement it. You lead the Operations function directly (Business Operations, Business & Systems / IT, and Back Office) and work across the whole organisation to design technology-enabled processes with function owners wherever efficiency can be unlocked.

Key Responsibilities

• Own and continuously improve Fido's core operational functions: business operations analysis, IT support and systems administration, and the Back Office Function.
• Set the target operating model for an efficient organisation; translate it into automation and AI initiatives, then direct the automation team and AI builders to deliver them.
• Partner with function owners across other teams to find slow, manual, or error-prone workflows, and build automations that make their work faster and more accurate; stay close to the work to spot friction and iterate quickly.
• Serve as the operational efficiency engine for the wider group; package the optimisations and automations proven in Ghana into repeatable playbooks, and work with the operational leads in each market to adapt and roll them out.
• Ensure operations meet information security, business continuity, data protection, and other regulatory requirements; embed audit-ready controls and documentation into operational workflows in partnership with Compliance, Risk, and Internal Audit.
• Manage technical service providers and vendors, including performance, contracts, redundancy and failover planning.
• Oversee operational readiness for product launches and provide input into product design.
• Own the Operations budget and deliver measurable efficiency gains against it.
• Build a high-performing operations team; coach team members and stay engaged in delivery.
  

Who you are

• Operational domain expert with a clear vision for how an efficient organisation should run; grounded in process optimisation, systems and IT management, and digital transformation, and able to set the operating model and direct automation and AI-build teams to implement it.
• Experienced operator, with 8+ years in operations, including 3+ years leading teams in a fast-paced, high-growth environment.
• Systems thinker with a strong sense of ownership; translates data and insight into operating decisions, with a track record of cost reduction or process improvement delivered through automation, from concept to scaled delivery.
• Fluent enough in automation, integrations, and data to scope and direct technical build work, even where you are not writing the code yourself.
• Skilled at co-designing technology-enabled processes with owners across the organisation.
• Experienced managing technical vendors and services, including contracts, performance, budget ownership, and compliance.
• Able to design and build operational processes and controls that scale efficiently as volume grows.
• Close to the work, hands-on, and quick to solve problems.
• Familiarity with AI and automation tooling, including low-code platforms is a plus.
• Experience collaborating across markets in fintech, telecommunications, digital services, or tech-led organizations is a plus.
